HOISINGTON GIRLS 77, NICKERSON 66 – Hoisington’s Ellie Crawford rescued the Cardinals from losing a 17-point lead with a basket and two free throws after the Panthers sliced a 59-42 deficit to 66-63 in Friday’s Central Kansas League basketball game. The Cardinals (13-6, 4-4 CKL) move ahead of Haven for the No. 1 3A Hoisington substate seed.
Cardinal Crawford scored a career high 24 points and Kylee Hahn 24 points. The Cardinals (13-6, 4-4 CKL) scored a season high 27 first-quarter points behind five 3-pointers.
“Our offense kept us alive. It was a great offensive night where both teams shot it well,” said Hoisington coach Trina Lutters. “Luckily, we were tough enough mentally when they cut out lead to three points.”
Nickerson (5-14, 2-6) scored 66 points after scoring 16 points against Hillsboro Tuesday. Ayla Ontjes (17) scored a career high with five consecutive 3-pointers. Kalyse Abernathy (17) and super quick Destiny Ponds (16) scored in double figures in the wide-open offensive affair.

HOISINGTON 60, NICKERSON 47 – Hoisington’s Mason Martin (17), Jason Robinson (14) and Tony Moore (10) scored in double figures in Friday’s 60-47 Central Kansas League basketball victory over Nickerson.
The Cardinals (11-8, 5-3 CKL) built a 25-point lead behind a 12-0 first-half run and a second-half 22-3 scoring burst. Robinson keyed the second-half stretch with five third-quarter steals that led to easy scores.
“Our defense created easy offense, which was fun to see,” said Hoisington coach Kyle Haxton. “We played fast in transition and that worked well tonight. Jason Robinson can really defend. You’re not going to catch Jason in the open court.”
Nickerson (4-15, 2-6 CKL) rallied with a 21-8 fourth-quarter edge. Taylor Engelland (11), Skylar Wakefield (11), Garrett Crossman (10) and Alex King (9) led the way.
