ST. JOHN — Nickerson's attacking offense paid dividends as the Panthers converted eight 3-pointers for a 45-32 victory over Larned in a consolation game of the St. John Mid-Winter Basketball Classic.
The Panthers' Carson Linn scored 15 points with a trio of 3-pointers and Grant Tatro knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 14 points. Nickerson (1-11) converted 8 of 19 shots from long range to outscore Larned 24-3.
"We didn't stop the guy off the dribble and they got open shots," said Larned coach Luke Steinlage. "They shot the ball well."
Larned's Cade Colglazier played inspired basketball with 15 points off the bench. The Indians made 12 of 37 field, 1 of 12 from long range.
"Cade really played well tonight," Steinlage said. "We want to work inside/outside like Cade did tonight."

ST. JOHN — Oiler Brynna Hammeke converted three 3-pointers and scored 19 points to spark No. 1 ranked Central Plains girls past Macksville 59-29 in Thursday's semifinal of the St. John Mid-Winter Classic. The Oilers (11-1) will play Wichita Sunrise (10-2) for first place Saturday.
Madison McGuire scored 16 points and Kassidy Nixon added 15 points for the Oilers. Mayce Russell led Macksville (7-5) with 14 points.

Peyton Ryan led the Oilers with 21 points and Hunter Klima added 13 points. The Oilers (0-11) play Larned (1-10) Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
