DODGE CITY— Coach Roger Ward and his Great Bend Chiefs took care of business early Wednesday as Great Bend delivered an 11-2 pounding of top seeded Garden City. Anson Hall collected the complete game victory as the Chiefs improve their season record to 21-18. Garden City falls to 24-5 and will enter the consolation round of this week’s double elimination tournament. In the other game from yesterday’s opening round host and third seed Dodge City (29-12) defeated second seed Russell (24-7) by a score of 8-1.
Great Bend and Dodge will face each other for the championship game today at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to the next round of the American Legion Triple A tournament next week in McPherson.
