STAFFORD – Ellinwood’s state qualifier Drew Heinz (76) earned medalist honors for the second consecutive season at Tuesday’s windswept St. John Golf Invitational. Winds gusted past 40 mph at the Stafford Country Club Course.

Ellinwood’s Mason Moore (80) finished runner-up. Hutchinson Central Christian (348) edged Ellinwood (352) for first place.

“It was our season’s best score (352), missing out on first by four strokes,” said Ellinwood coach Greg Maxwell. “Braden Lewis earned his first medal with a 93 which earned him ninth. Caden Rowan shot a career best 103 to finish out the team score. It was a great job.”
