ELLINWOOD GIRLS 48, ELLIS 38

Ellinwood’s Mya Maxwell delivered a school record eight 3-pointers for 29 points to spark the Eagles past Ellis 48-38 in Friday’s non-league basketball game. Maxwell scored 15 third-quarter points and nine in the fourth quarter. Madison Ward added 12 points and nine rebounds. Maxwell has 22 threes and has converted  14 in the past two games.

Ward left the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury. Maxwell answered the call. In a span of eight minutes, Maxwell converted six straight 3-pointers. The only break in the streak was when she was fouled on a shot from beyond the arc. She converted all three free throws. 

Lauren Petz passed out five assists. Anahi Mendez had two steals. Ellis’ Grace Eck scored 24 points.

ELLIS BOYS 38, ELLINWOOD 33

Ellis outscored Ellinwood 7-1 in the final three minutes after Kyler Doll’s 3-pointer gave the Eagles a 32-31 lead in Friday’s nonleague basketball game.

Ellis’ Brady Fricky scored and Zachary Eck followed with a 3-pointer for a 36-32 lead.
