ELLSWORTH — Red-hot Ellinwood (9-2) swept five matches to capture the Ellsworth volleyball championship, beating Nickerson 25-16, 25-17 to win the head-to-head showdown between unbeaten teams. The Eagles also defeated Salina Sacred Heart 25-23, 25-16, Central Plains 25-17, 25-16, Republic Co8nty 25-11, 25-19 and Ellsworth 21-25, 25-2, 20-18. The Eagles won without standout hitter Kennedy Behnke.
