ELLSWORTH – Ellinwood led both games, but the Ellsworth Bearcats (4-2) roared back for a baseball doubleheader sweep, 8-4 and 19-4. Ellinwood (2-4) plays Russell/Victoria Thursday at home.
ELLSWORTH 8, EAGLES 4 (G1) — Ellinwood led 1-0 for three innings when Campbell Coleman singled home Parker Scheck. Ellsworth scored six fourth-inning runs. Bearcat Lane Rolfs drove home two runs. Austin Stroede, Wyatt Bohnen and Ben Hipp delivered RBIs.
Ellinwood’s Dylan Gantz drove home Logan Panning and Cooper Hosman with singles. Scheck singled home Gantz.
ELLSWORTH 19, EAGLES 4 (G2) — Ellinwood broke to a 4-0 lead before the Bearcats scored 19 consecutive runs. It looked promising as Panning scored on an error. Coleman’s triple scored Gantz and Cody Knoche. Alek Brack singled home Coleman for a 4-0 lead.
Ellsworth’s Cole Webber and Dayton Davis each drove home four runs. Daxton Leiker drove home three runs. Rolfs drove home two runs.
