LARNED – Larned’s two-time state qualifier Erin Tims has placed 25th (190, 97/93)  at Hesston and 85th (123) at Hutchinson’s Carey Park to lead four returning players for the Indians.

Tims earned a trip to American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation and serves as Larned’s Student Council and National Honor Society president.

“Erin is a very smart girl, and that’s the way she approaches golf,” said Larned coach Dan Collins. “She plays the game like it’s supposed to be played. She’s an all-around solid player who hits her irons decent and has gained driving length over the years. She knows all the golf courses we play really well.”

Autumn Hopopirek, Temperance Donecker and Taeten Reynolds gained varsity experience last year.

“Taeten is a multi-sport athlete who will enjoy a strong season,” Collins said.

Ariana Meyer headlines a 4-player freshman class.

“We’ll be stronger with our 4-5-6 players because several of the freshmen have competed in junior summer golf,” Collins said. “We have an opportunity to surprise some teams. We’re excited for our fall season.”

Collins said Tims and Holopirek have enjoyed leading their teammates.

“The girls work hard on the range, and are ready to hit extra golf balls after practice,” Collins said. “We’ve had positive practices.”
