HAYS – Pitcher Collin Hall rescued the Great Bend Panthers after three consecutive losses at the Hays Diamond Classic. Hall threw a four-hit shutout to spark the Panthers past Salina Central 3-0 in Saturday's finale. The shutout victory was identical to Great Bend's upset over the Mustangs in 5A postseason play last year.

The Panthers (8-10) lost 6-4 to Goddard Eisenhower and 9-1 to Manhattan Friday.

GREAT BEND 3, SALINA CENTRAL 0 – Hall (3-2) threw a solid game, retiring Kade Cyre in the fifth inning to strand two baserunners. Salina Central pitcher Parker Kavanaugh matched Hall with six scoreless innings.

The Panthers scored three seventh-inning runs with "small ball." Jesus Bujanda and Joey Soupiset walked and Riley Smith singled to start the seventh inning. Chance Perry's bunt single brought home pinch runner Jade Poe. Calan Haberman followed with a second squeeze bunt that scored Soupiset. Alex Schremmer brought home Smith on a groundball for a 3-0 victory.

GODDARD EISENHOWER 6, GREAT BEND 4 – Eisenhower’s Owen Reynolds drilled a three-run homer, drove in four runs and pitched six innings. Reynolds’ first-inning homer came off losing pitcher Chance Perry.

Great Bend’s Smith singled home Townshend Kurth with a second-inning single. Koy Brack’s single drove home Smith and Schremmer for a 3-3 tie after five innings.

But Mattingly Milledge scored on a sixth-inning groundout and Reynolds singled home Turney for a 5-3 lead. Jacob Jobe scored on a seventh-inning groundout. Schremmer scored the Panthers’ final run on an error.

MANHATTAN 9, GREAT BEND 1 – Manhattan erased a 1-0 deficit with a four-run first inning. Schremmer singled and scored on a passed ball for a 1-0 lead.

Schremmer, Haberman and Eddie Bujanda each delivered two hits as the Panthers stranded 11 baserunners. The Panthers were a hit away all game. Soupiset (first), Haberman (sixth) and Smith (seventh) were retired with the bases loaded.

Manhattan’s Dom Huber delivered a two-run double and Dayne Aschenbrenner and Chace McIlvane drilled RBI doubles for a 4-1 lead off losing pitcher Haberman (0-1).

McIlvane and Tyce Hoover singled home runs to spark a four-run third inning. McIlvane scored on a groundout and Hoover scored on Ben Gallagher’s bases-loaded walk for an 8-1 lead. B.J. Young scored on a fifth-inning error for a 9-1 decision.
