The Great Bend Bat Cats will sponsor a meeting about community families becoming host families from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Big Bend Batters Box, 2207 Washington. The Bat Cats will feature college-level baseball players aspiring to reach the next level of baseball.
The players will reside in Great Bend from May 26 through July competing in the Jayhawk League against Derby, Dodge City, El Dorado, Hays, Haysville, Liberal and Oklahoma City.
There will be information available about the benefits of becoming a host family for the summer collegiate baseball program.
“The host family program is essential for the Bat Cats to be in Great Bend,” said Roger Ward. “It’s a great way to see from the inside the daily trials and tribulations of an aspiring professional baseball player. These young men will have a positive influence in our community.”
If you are unable to attend, please visit the Great Bend Bat Cats Baseball Club website to see the information, or you can email (wardobcc@yahoo.com) or call general manager Roger Ward (620-282-8159) to ask questions or set up an appointment time.
The Bat Cats open the season Friday, June 2, at Al Burns Memorial Field against the Hays Larks.
Ward encourages anyone to visit the website (greatbendbatcats.com) to see what this new, winning team is all about.
