The Buhler Nationals, composed of high school players from Buhler and Nickerson, defeated the Great Bend Braves 7-3 in the Class A American Legion State baseball tournament at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Braves play the Olathe Royals at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The Great Bend Braves opened the Class A American Legion State Baseball Tournament with a 14-4 victory over Doniphan County Wednesday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

Great Bend's Blaine Mermis and Brayden Powell delivered two-run singles in a 10-run first inning. Brooks Nichols drilled an RBI triple and Koy Brack hit an RBI single in the inning.
