HAYS — The Great Bend Middle School girls cross country teams coached by Carley Wells claimed first place in the seventh and eighth grade girls team divisions at the Hays cross country invitational.

Seventh-grader Teegan Guerra (6:42.6) placed third and Greidys Moreno (7:32.3) finished seventh.

Sienna Smith (15:13.6) finished seventh and Addyson Bruce (15:45.1) placed eighth for the eighth-grade girls.

“With the seventh-grade team running one mile and the eighth grade teams running two miles, several athletes ran their personal bests,” Wells said. “I’m pleased with the results we are having based upon the runners working hard and running smart races.”

The GBMS 7th and 8th grade boys placed runner-up. Seventh-grader Omar Razo (6:04.2) placed third. Eighth-grader Tavon Stroup (12;40.4) finished third.
