Great Bend volleyball keeps rolling

 DODGE CITY — Defending Western Athletic Conference champion Great Bend roared past Dodge City, 25-11, 25-23 and Guymon, Okla. 25-7, 25-18 to improve to 4-0 heading to Saturday’s Riley County Tournament.

Against Dodge City, a balanced team effort showed Kya Behr with 19 assists and 7 winners; Mikalya Minton with 13 serves and 10 digs; Cassie Ellegood with 10 winners and 10 serves and Alex Mayers with 10 serves received and 9 digs against Dodge City.

“Dodge City plays its best volleyball against Great Bend,” said Great Bend coach Shelly Duvall. “Dodge City college volleyball team got their crowd riled up. They had a good student section. When people try and get in our heads, we love seeing that.”

Against Guymon, Behr led the way with 23 assists and 12 serves. Ava Kaiser contributed 8 serves, 7 serves defended and 6 digs. Cassie Ellegood had 8 serves and 6 winners.

“We ran different rotations against Guymon,” Duvall said.
