The Hoisington High School Wrestling team ran its dual record to 11-0 this past Thursday evening, and picked up the Championship Plaque from the Stafford Duals Tournament. The team was outstanding all night as they defeated Bluestem 70-7, Chaparral 65-6, Lincoln 76-6, Nickerson 75-3, and Stafford 63-16. Those in attendance were able to see some outstanding matches on the evening as there were several State Place winners wrestling each other.  
The Cardinals with the tournament win finished off quite a week as last Thursday the team won the Larned Duals Tournament, followed by a very convincing tournament win at the Ellsworth Varsity Tournament, before ending the week with the championship at the Stafford Tournament. The Cardinals will next compete at the Bob Kuhn Classic starting this coming Friday at 2 p.m. and ending on Saturday. The two day event always proves to be one of the best High School Tournaments in the State. The Cardinal J.V. will return back to Stafford this Saturday to participate in the Stafford J.V. Tournament.  Start time for the Stafford J.V. Tournament is 9 a.m.
Coaches Daniel Schmidt’s comments: “Our staff was very pleased with some aspects of the duals, but see a ton of room for improvement. I understand that the teams that we wrestled tonight are not ranked, but traditionally they always have some outstanding individuals and tonight did not disappoint. It was a very good feeling to get to see some of our back-ups get into the line-up and post wins at a Varsity level.”
