Indians salvage baseball split
LARNED — Larned reliever Ian Orth recorded the final four outs as the Indians edged Halstead 4-3 for a split of Tuesday's Central Kansas league baseball doubleheader. Halstead (6-3 CKL) downed the Indians (2-8) 7-0 in the opener.
LARNED 4, HALSTEAD 3 (G2) — Larned's Brady Hope scored on a perfect squeeze bunt by Eian Sanders for the Indians' game-winning run. Larned starter Brady Hope (1-3) and Orth combined for 10 strikeouts.
The Indians parlayed three hit batters and a walk into a 2-run first inning. Carson Shaver scored on a sacrifice fly by Hope in the second inning. Hope doubled and scored on Sanders' fly ball in the fifth inning.
Halstead scored on a first-inning error. Kamden Wise singled home Austin Radke in the second inning. Chandler Drake scored on a sixth-inning error.
HALSTEAD 7, LARNED 0 (G1) — Halstead starter Chandler Drake (2-1) shut out the Indians on a 1-hitter, yielding a single to Orth with 11 strikeouts. Kamden Wise delivered a 3-run triple and RBI bunt. Adler Davison, Kaleb Wise and Jace Mueller also drove home runs.
