KINSLEY – The Kinsley/Macksville bats got rolling in the nightcap with a 14-4 victory over Pratt Skyline after the Thunderbirds won Friday's baseball opener 12-1. The Coyotes (2-4) play Ellis April 12 at Kinsley.
KINSLEY 14, SKYLINE 4 (G2) – Kinsley scored in all six innings for a run-rule victory. Kinsley's hot-hitting Cason Lemuz homered and doubled to spark a 10-hit attack and six extra-base hits. Kendall Grippin drove home three runs and scored two runs. Woodrow Lancaster drove in two runs.
Diego Esparza and Conner Chamberlain also drove in runs. Grippin (1-2) worked 32/3 innings with relief help from Esparza and Lancaster.
SKYLINE 12, KINSLEY 1 (G1) – Lemuz drove in Kinsley's Peyton Schmidt on a sixth-inning sacrifice fly. Esparza and Chamberlain doubled and Schmidt and Lancaster singled.
Skyline's Griffin Wallace drove home three runs. Brayden Berens and Clayton Freeman each drove in two runs. Justus Novotny doubled twice. Pitcher Berens struck out eight batters and yielded four hits.
