CIMARRON — The Larned boys worked hard by converting four free throws in the final 30 seconds to upset Cimarron 68-67 in Tuesday’s non-league basketball game.

It was a game of runs as the two guard-oriented teams battled back and forth all evening. There was some terrific 3-point shooting by both teams and both shot over 50 percent. Larned was 22 of 40 while Cimarrron was 21-38. Larned converted 16 of 17 free throws and Cimarron converted 13 of 17.

Larned coach Jerrod Smith said, “I love that we got the road win but , boy, we didn’t play good defense the final three quarters. I was impressed with how our guys came back after trailing by four in the final quarter.”

Cimarron was led by the hot-shooting Matt Mowry with 31 points. He was backed up by R J Thomas with 9. The Bluejays fall to 2-3 on the season,

Larned (3-2) was led by Brock Skelton’s 18 points while Chance Sanger added 14 and Jaylen Thomas nine.
