MAYETTA — Larned High graduate Colton Massey shot even-par 72 to tie for 19th after the first round of qualifying for the 108th Kansas Amateur Championship. The low 64 players qualify for match play, which starts Thursday. Massey carded two birdies at two bogeys at Firekeeper Golf Course.
University of Kansas golfer Andy Spencer is red hot entering the 108th Kansas Amateur championship. He shot 3-under-par 69 Tuesday. Leawood’s Spencer shot 11-under-par 133 Monday at Milburn Country Club to qualify for the 2018 U.S. Amateur Championship at Pebble Beach golf course on the Monterrey Peninsula in California. Spencer averaged a team low 72.0 and qualified for the NCAA Championship at Stillwater, Okla.
