Indians seek first football victory

NICKERSON (1-4, 1-1) at LARNED (0-5, 0-2)
Nickerson’s starting All-CKL QB Tanner Schrag is sidelined with a shoulder injury and Larned QB Mason Perez is out with a broken hand in 3A, District 7.
The Panthers feature one offensive weapon — tight end Hunter Jones, who scored three touchdowns, including a 55-yard interception return. Jones, Cristian Peterson and Tre Garcia took snaps from center last week.
Backup Larned QB Dillan Smith. RB Brock Skelton and WR Chance Sanger have sparked the Indians.
SOUTH BARBER (5-0) at OTIS-BISON (4-1)
A high-level shootout is forecast. Cougar QB Anton Foust has 315 yards passing, nine TDs and 477 yards rushing and eight TDs. FB Bevan Gradig has gained 341 yards and averages eight tackles per game. Seth Hoopingarner averages four tackles per game with four TDs receiving.
South Barber QB Trevor Rooks (561 yards, 13 TDs), QB Rooks (400 yards, 9 TDS), RB Neal Gugelmeyer (366 yards, 10 TDS, WR Emilio Perez (260 yards- 6 TDs and Cole Coggins (123 yards, 4 TDs) lead the Chieftains’ offense.
STERLING (1-4, 1-1) at ELLINWOOD (2-2, 1-1)
An Ellinwood victory in 2A, District 7 would clinch a playoff spot for the first time in 14 years. Ellinwood RB Kody Koetter (566 yards, 9 TDS), RB-WR David Hammeke (179 rushing, 181 receiving) and WB Ryan Niles (141 rushing, 95 receiving) lead the offense. QB Kyler Doll has thrown for 410 yards and five scores.
SKYLINE (1-4, 0-2) at CENTRAL PLAINS (5-0, 2-0)
The Central Plains Oilers are already fine tuning for the playoffs in 8-Man 1, District 5 after back-to-back 46-0 routs.
Oiler QB Myle Menges has thrown for 523 yards and 11 touchdowns. A balanced run game features RB Alex Hickel (329, 6 TDs). Menges (155, 3 TDs), RB Lawson Oeser (177, 3 TDs) help the Oilers average 200 yards per game WR Jerred Bieberle has 145 yards and three scores. Grant Heldstab averages 10 tackles per game and Kickel eight tackles. Menges and Ryan each have three interceptions.
LITTLE RIVER (4-1, 1-1) at MACKSVILLE (3-2, 2-0)
In 8-Man 1, District 5, Macksville QB Kody Mead has thrown for 846 yards, 19 TDs and 169 yards per game. RB Skylar Evans (418 yards, 3 TDs); WR Karson Waters (36-524, 14 TDs), WR Darien Miller (152) and WR Tyler Bissell (149) are quality targets. Harley Blaske and Waters each have three interceptions.
Little River’s Graham Stephens (388 yards, 9 TDs) and RB Hunter Thomas (335 yards, 9 TDS) lead the Redskins. who average 192 yards rushing
STAFFORD (4-1, 3-1) at BUCKLIN (2-2, 1-2)
In 8-Man 2, District 8, Stafford will clinch a playoff berth. QB Justice Manning has passed for 258 yards and five scores and rushed for 383 yards and 13 TDs. RB Tai Hildenbrand (220 yards), RB Caleb Hildebrand (348 yards, 10 TDs) lead the rushing game. WR Ethan Hildebrand has 115 yards receiving.
PAWNEE HEIGHTS (4-1) at DEERFIELD (0-4)
In 6-Man South, Pawnee Heights regained its offensive mojo after losing 67-21 to Ashland. Tiger all-state back Kade Scott has rushed for more than 700 yards to spark the Tigers. QB Trace Baker leads the passing game.
MOUNDRIDGE (2-3, 1-1) at ST. JOHN (0-5, 0-2)
Moundridge TB Cody Hazelton scored three touchdowns and gained 240 offensive yards in a loss to Macksville. St. John QB Cashe McVey gained 12 yards rushing last week.
