Hillsboro sweeps Indians
HILLSBORO – Larned pushed hard for an upset, but Hillsboro’s girls escaped with a doubleheader sweep 15-12 and 16-6 in Thursday’s Central Kansas League softball games. Larned (1-7) plays Halstead (5-2) at home Tuesday.
HILLSBORO 15, INDIANS 12 (G1) – Larned hustled for 12 runs and 11 hits, but was unable to slow the Trojans’ scoring.
Larned’s Emma Thompson and Kiana Meyer each drove home two runs. Kenzie Reinert scored five runs and drove home a run. Karley Lemuz drove home a run. Madison Wood and Autumn Pate each scored two runs.
Hillsboro’s Kori Arnold drilled a 3-run double after Reese Hefley doubled home two runs and Sky Stucky ripped a 2-run homer in a 7-run sixth inning. Hefley drove home four runs. Arnold, Stucky and R. Petersen each drove home two runs.
HILLSBORO 16, INDIANS 6 (G2) – Larned kept hustling with six runs. Kenzie Reinert and Sophia Skelton drove home runs. Kenzie Reinert doubled and had two hits. Thompson, Skelton and Pate each delivered one hit.
Hillsboro’s Stucky hit her third homer and drove home two runs. Arnold and Kirsten Klaver each drove home two runs.
