Larned softball sweeps Vikings

LARNED – Larned’s Karley Lemuz delivered the game-winning RBI and the Indians delivered a sweep with a game-ending double play for hard-fought 7-6 and 3-2 Central Kansas League softball wins over Smoky Valley.

Larned (8-8, 7-7 CKL) continues an impressive season while passing the Vikings (7-11, 7-9 CKL) in the standings.

LARNED 7, VIKINGS 6 (G1) – Larned pull off its best rally of the season with a 3-run seventh inning. Kenzie Reinert reached on an error, Madison Wood singled and Emma Thompson reached base on a bunt. Alexa Ryersee singled home Teagan Walker and Wood. Thompson triggered a celebration when a Lemuz groundball chased her home.

Ryersee singled home Kenzie Reinert and Walker in the first inning. Kenzie Reinert scored on Wood’s fifth-inning single. Ivy Hope scored on Madison Reinert’s sixth-inning single.

LARNED 3, VIKINGS 2 (G2) – Madison Reinert threw six shutout innings to preserve a 3-0 lead. After Campbell Gaskill and Claire Broxterman scored, the Indians second baseman Emma Thompson, first baseman Kamryn Ettleman and third baseman Lemuz completed a game-ending double play.

Thompson scored on a fourth-inning error. Walker scored on Thompson’s sixth-inning single and Thompson scored on a Viking error for a 3-0 lead.
