The Great Bend 14-and-under Quicksilver fast-pitch softball team throttled the Dodge City Monster 7-0 in the championship game of an ASA tournament at Veterans North ballpark on Saturday evening.
Quicksilver scored five runs in the second inning to open up a 5-0 lead, extending the margin to 7-0 with a pair of runs in the third. The time limit went into effect after four completge innings.
The 12-and-under Quicksilver lost to Garden City 13-5 in the Silver Championship (third-place game) on Saturday afternoon at Brit Spaugh South ballpark.
Trailing 7-0, Quicksilver rallied back with a five-run uprising in the third inning, but Garden City was able to pull away.
Along with Great Bend, teams from Hays, Goodland, Grainfield, Lyons, Hoisington, Colby, Winfield and Concordia competed in the tournament. state qualifiers.
