Macksville Mustangs return to state basketball

The Macksville Mustangs defeated Little River to qualify for the 1A Division 1 state basketball tournament at Dodge City.

MACKSVILLE 59, LITTLE RIVER 47 – Last year’s third-place state finisher Macksville returns to the 1A Division 1 basketball tournament at Dodge City with a 59-47 victory over Little River in the 1A Little River substate finals.

Macksville’s boys (20-2) continue to get balanced scoring with four players in double figures. Rogelio Ibarra converted a trio of 3-pointers and scored 11 points.

Hector Gomez (13), Diego Esparza (12), Ryan Kuckelman (12) all scored in double figures.

Lance Lickiss hauled down 10 rebounds and dished out five assists. Alexis Barron had three steals.
