Oiler tennis wins triangular

The 2019 Central Plains boys tennis team features front row—Mason Cox, Karter Beck, Hunter Green; back row—J.J. Heredia, Devin Ryan, Brett Liebl, Paxton Hammeke, Lawson Oeser.

CLAFLIN — Central Plains’  No. 1 singles Devin Ryan and No. 2 singles Brett Liebl finished with 4-0 records as the Oilers defeated Hesston 8-0 and Conway Springs in Saturday’s Mid Kansas tennis triangular. No. 1 doubles Ryan-Liebl teamed for victories over Hesston and Conway Springs.

Paxton Hammeke and Lawson Oeser each finished with 3-1 records. J.J. Heredia and Karter Beck each finished with 2-1 records. Hesston beat Conway Springs 6-3.

Devin Ryan and Hammeke finished as 3A state doubles runner-up last year. Ryan placed seventh in the 2017 state singles tournament. Liebl and prior doubles partner Kade Beck placed third in 3A doubles last year. Heredia and Oeser each won two state matches last year.
