CLAFLIN — Central Plains all-stater Emily Ryan soared for 32 points and dished out 12 assists with eight steals in Tuesday’s 99-24 Central Prairie League basketball victory over Ellinwood. 

Ryan's two spectacular plays were an assist from the floor and a block that rocketed the basketball out-of-bounds. Ryan dished a perfect first-half assist to Lexi Oeser when she fell to the floor. Ryan flew upcourt to block a first-half shot out-of-bounds by Mary Dimitt. 

The No. 1 ranked 1A Oilers (7-0, 1-0 CPL) have swept a state record 118 consecutive wins.

Kassidy Nixon contributed 22 points and 11 steals. Addison Crites scored 18 with 10 rebounds and Delaney Rugan added 16 points. The Oilers dished out 30 assists and converted 45 of 69 field goals, 38 of 48 from inside the 3-point line. 

Ellinwood (5-3, 2-1 CPL) was paced by Brittney Simpson with eight points and four steals. The Eagles committed 41 turnovers against aggressive Oiler defense.

ELLINWOOD BOYS 47, CENTRAL PLAINS 31 — Ellinwood's boys defeated Central Plains for the first time in school history after 12 consecutive losses to the Oilers. Ellinwood (7-1, 2-1 CPL) was sparked by Tyler Stuhlsatz with 21 points and five 3-pointers. David Hammeke contributed 15 points.

The Oilers led 8-3 before the Eagles rallied for a 18-10 halftime lead in Tuesday’s Central Prairie League basketball opener.. The Oilers (1-6, 0-1 CPL) was led by J.J. Heredia and Jerred Bieberle with 10 points apiece.
