Oilers sweep Ness City Eagles

CENTRAL PLAINS GIRLS 54, NESS CITY 30 – Marilyn Soeken matched her uniform number with 33 points to spark a dominating 54-30 Central Prairie League basketball victory over Ness City. Soeken scored a career high point total with 11 field goals and six 3-pointers. Kylie Kempke added 10 points and Grace Lamatsch eight for the Oilers.

The Oilers extended a 1-point lead to 21-11 at halftrime before scoring 33 second-half points. Soeken’s converted five second half triples.

This was a great win,” said Oiler coach Pat Stiles. “We shot the ball extremely well in the second half, which always makes the game seem much smoother. We’re taking one game at a time. We’re enjoying every second of this season.”

The Oilers (13-4, 6-1 CPL) play Canton-Galva on Senior Night Thursday.

Ness City’s Savannah Buller scored nine points.

CENTRAL PLAINS 68, NESS CITY 29 –  Peyton Ryan and Brodie Crites put up huge numbers for the Oilers with Ryan scoring 28 points and a trio of 3pointers and Crites adding 22 in a 68-29 rout of Ness City in Tuesday’s Central Prairie League basketball game.

The Oilers had control of the game from the start, and never let up.

“These guys played a solid four quarters of basketball,” said Michael Ryan, Oiler coach. “We played well offensively and defensively. As we near the end of the season we need to be playing our best basketball.”

Ness City’s Pavlu scored 10 points.

The Oilers play Canton Galva Thursday.
