Great Bend Panther Paige Wagner signs a scholarship offer from Wichita State with her mother Cheri Wagner and her father Tim Wagner.

WICHITA – Great Bend Panther Paige Wagner achieved a long-time goal by signing a bowling scholarship offer Monday from Wichita State University.

Wagner placed runner-up in the 2021 Class 5A state bowling championship (725) with a school-record score. Wagner’s score was broken by teammate Kaylin Wahlmeier (752) when she captured the 2022 state championship.

Wagner was 2020 Western Athletic Most Valuable Bowler with a 197 average. Wagner placed eighth (615) and 15th (529) at 5A state.

The Wichita State women captured the 2021 Intercollegiate Team Championships in a thrilling match against North Carolina A&T.

Wichita State’s Most Valuable Player Madison Janack delivered three strikes to shut out North Carolina A&T, 247-217, for the 3-2 victory.
The Shocker women have won 10 national bowling championships.
