Great Bend’s girls continue to excel with four first-place finishes and three times which exceeded state-qualifying times. The Panthers won Thursday’s Great Bend Swimming Invitational (469) by edging Manhattan (453).
Great Bend's quartet of Emilee Hall, Clarise Snapp, Ellyson Somers and Josephine Mazouch earned a state qualifying time in the 200-yard medley relay (2:02.47). The 400 freestyle relay (4:09.38) also passed the qualifying time with Mazouch, Kamryn Johns, Somers and Hall.
Hall placed first in the 100 backstroke (1:07.35) with a state qualifying time. Braylee Carper captured first place in the 500-yard freestyle (6:30.2).
Bettering state consideration times with runner-up finishes were Mazouch, 50 freestyle (27.27); Snapp, 100 breaststroke, (1:20.12); and the 200 free relay (1:59.33) with Sydney Kruckenberg, Darcy Feist, Snapp, Johns.
Also earning state consideration times were third-place Hall, 50 freestyle (27.36); Somers, third, 100 butterfly (1:10.99); and Mazouch, sixth, 100 freestyle (1:00.93).
