SALINA — Great Bend Panther Cailee McMullen (93) earned a 10th-place medal and teammate Kaylee Reiser (95) earned 13th medalist honors at Monday’s Salina South Invitational Golf Tournament.

The Panthers (412) shot a season-best score and finished sixth in the 13-team field at the par 70 Salina Municipal Golf Course as four players posted their lowest 18-hole score of the season.

Grace Soupiset, 37th, 110; and Kirsten Miessler, 114, 44th, also counted in the Panthers’ team score. Play was conducted in 90-degree temperatures with the wind gusting past 20 mph.

“We shot our best tournament score of the season,” said Great Bend coach Travis McAtee. “Five of our six players shot a personal best 18-hole score, so we’re trending in the right direction. Halfway through our regular season schedule, we’ve shown improvement every tournament. We’re hoping this trend continues Thursday at Liberal for the fourth WAC tournament.”

The Panthers are ranked third in the Western Athletic Conference standings. McMullen and Reiser are in contention for All-WAC honors.
