Panthers’ No. 2 singles WAC runner-up

HAYS — Great Bend’s No. 2 singles Kaylin Wahlmeier (18-14) laced runner-up in a 8-5 loss to Garden City’s Alivia Palmer at Monday’s Western Athletic Conference girls tennis championship.

The Panthers’ No. 2 doubles Tania Molina/Sahara Rhiza (7-9) placed third with a 8-3 victory over Dodge City’s Annicka Hernandez/Cait Pfaff.

Great Bend’s No. 1 singles Laura Daniel (9-18) and No. 1 doubles Taylor Lashley/Samantha Mayers (3-26) both finished fifth.

Garden City (16) swept 16 matches to outdistance Dodge City (7) for the team title. Garden City’s No. 1 singles Brooke Ptacek (4-0), No. 1 doubles Sydney Nannina/Sage Riggs (4-0) and No. 2 doubles Chloe Powell/Payton Tull (4-0) all finished first.
