Great Bend’s high-scoring Yulisa Valdez and Mayra Ramirez each scored two goals as the Panthers raced past Arkansas City 5-1 in Monday’s soccer regional.
Valdez scored the first and third goals. Yulisa scored the second and fourth goals. Citlali Sanchez converted the Panthers’ fifth goal.
Great Bend (6-10) travels to McPherson (15-1) at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a regional semifinal. The Panthers have won five of their last six games.
“They are starting to click as a team,” said Great Bend coach Margarita Ayala. “We played good soccer from the beginning. We were able to play Mayra Ramirez higher up on the field rather than in the middle. They are continuing to improve.”
