Great Bend discovered a beautiful home away from home.

Thanks to Barton Community College’s generosity, the Panthers swept past Hays Thomas More 11-1 and 10-4 Friday at Cougar Field.

They were friendly confines for the Panthers who swung the bats aggressively as well as they have all season with 10 runs in the first inning. Great Bend (12-6) plays Hutchinson Tuesday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

GREAT BEND 11, TMP 1 (G1) – Shailey Clark was greeted by happy teammates after a fourth-inning home run that cleared the fence to highlight a three-RBI game. Clark’s blast followed a inside-the-park homer by Jenna Mauler off losing pitcher Kyleigh Allen.

The Panthers scored four first-inning runs. Sydney Unruh’s bunt scored Aleah Urban. Kaylee Unruh’s single scored Sydney Unruh. Clark scored the third run. Cailee McMullen’s single drove home courtesy runner Kyleigh Post.

Post scored on a wild pitch and McMullen scored on Urban’s third-inning sacrifice fly. Mauler and Clark delivered back-to-back fourth inning homers for an 8-0 lead.

TMP’s Maddie Lagree singled home Emma Pope, but centerfielder Aleah Urban threw out Leanne Rack at third base on the play.

Clark’s single scored Grace Rowland and Mauler and Post scored on a wild pitch for an 11-1 victory.

GREAT BEND 10, TMP 4 (G1) – The Panthers scored six first-inning runs. Urban scored on Shanaeia Mehlhaff’s bunt. Mauler scored on an error. McKayla Williams singled home Mauler and Clark. Rowland doubled home Williams and Mara Fletchall singled home McMullen for a 6-0 lead.

Great Bend’s Lexi Parsons drilled an RBI double to score Rowland in the fifth inning. Williams, McMullen and Rowland added RBIs in a three-run sixth inning.

Panther pitcher Sarah Mehlhaff improved to 5-1. The Monarchs scored single runs in the final four frames. Sophia Mickelson Coulter hit a fourth-inning sacrifice fly. Morgan Staab scored on an error. Kaeltyn Gottschalk and Allen delivered RBI singles.
