Panthers’ swim relay earns state berth
NEWTON – Great Bend’s 200-yard freestyle relay (1:52.14) qualified for 5-1A state by bettering the state qualifying time with Emilee Hall, Josephine Mazouch, Elly Somers, and Kamryn Johns in Thursday’s Newton Swimming Invitational.
The Panthers’ runner-up 400-yard freestyle (4:23.11) earned a state consideration time with Mazouch, Elly Howard, Hall and Somers.
Runner-up Ellyson Somers earned a state consideration time (1:20.29) in the 100-yard breaststroke. Hall’s fourth-place (1:08.6) in the 100-yard backstroke earned a state consideration time.
