Pawnee Heights girls rescue basketball season
Pawnee Heights Tigers

ROZEL – An 11th-hour appeal worked. It’s a miracle. Pawnee Heights will field a girls basketball team. Just three players started workouts this winter.

The Lady Tigers are led by co-coaches Keenan and Hannah Rasmussen in their 2nd year at Pawnee Heights.

“Jaeden Carlson (12), Madison Polson (12), and Elizabeth Rasmussen (11) are season starters returning from last year,” said Hannah Rasmussen. “Jaeden leads with a calm demeanor, but don't let that fool you as she was picked last year for second team all league.

“Madison Polson, an all around athlete playing her second year in club volleyball, is known for her quick hands and swift shots on the basketball court. Elizabeth had quality playing time last season and will bring a dominant presence to the court.

“Yeimi Cordero (11) and Nazareth Rios-Valles (11) are new starters showing much dedication and talent. Yeimi's strengths include shooting and defense, as she is not one to give up easily. Nazareth has shown the unique ability to play many positions.

Head Coach Hannah Rasmussen said, "Be on the lookout for the Lady Tigers. We have worked hard and last year was discouraging with low numbers. I am excited to see them dominate on the court."

Rounding out the team are three freshman: Olivia Hands, Joselyn Cordero, and Julissa Torres. Olivia has a natural athlete ability that runs in the family. With her height and talent, she is one to watch in the upcoming years. The Lady Tigers look to be a very quick team with size in the paint and excellent perimeter shooting.”
