QUINTER CASTLE ROCK

WHEATLAND 56, PAWNEE HEIGHTS 53

QUINTER – A showdown between two returning state qualifiers went down to the final possession.

Wheatland-Grinnell's Trey Vincent drilled a game-winning 3-pointer for a 56-53 victory over Pawnee Heights for the Castle Rock Classic basketball championship. The Tigers reached the 1A Div. 2 semifinals and the Thunderhawks lost in the 1A Div. 2 state quarterfinals last year.

Alec Carlson and Braden Colglazier each scored 14 points and Adam Hands chipped in 10 points.

Devin Hamby passed to Colglazier for a 53-53 tie. The Tigers had four chances to tie in the final minutes, but missed two shots and committed two turnovers.

The Thunderhawks converted eight 3-pointers to outscore the Tigers 24-21 from long range.

QUINTER – All-league Olivia Hands scored 16 points as the Tigers edged past Western Plains 32-19 for fifth place at the Quinter Castle Rock basketball Classic. Elizabeth Rasmussen added six points.

QUINTER  –  All-league Alec Carlson scored 28 points and had six steals to spark Pawnee Heights past Quinter 55-52 in Friday's semifinal at the Castle Rock Basketball Classic. Tiger Adam Adams contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds. Braden Colglazier chipped in 10 points.

Quinter's Braden Polifka (12) and Bradley Riedel (11) scored in double figures. Quinter converted 1 of 24 3-pointers.

QUINTER – Pawnee Heights standout Alec Carlson rescued the Tigers with 25 points in a last-second 47-45 overtime victory over Dighton in the Quinter Castle Rock Basketball Tournament. The Tigers play Quinter in Friday’s semifinals.

Max Neeley led Dighton with 21 points.

QUINTER – Pawnee Heights Tiger Olivia Hands scored 21 points in a excellent effort in a 55-34 setback to Wheatland-Grinnell at Tuesday’s Quinter Castle Rock Basketball Tournament. Elizabeth Rasmussen added six points. The Tigers play Wichita CCA in Friday’s second round.

Wheatland Grinnell’s Anna Godek scored 11 points and Emily Heier added 10 points.
