2015 State Medalists

The Lady Panthers finished in 6th place at the 5A-1A State Tournament on Thursday at North Rock Lanes in Wichita. Sophomore Allie Brodrick was the lone medalist for the Panthers. Brodrick rolled games of 168, 236, 160 for a 564 series which earned her the 12th place medal. The Lady Panthers State Team members include: seniors, Addie Soukup and Abby Rose; and sophomores, Allie Brodrick, Kylynn Keeler, McKenzy Black and Elsi Miller. Junior Hanna Pfeifer and freshman Jordan Vsetecka were alternates.
In the boys action, the Panthers captured the 3rd place trophy with a team score of 2550 pins. The Panther boys were matched up with State Champion Circle, and State Runner up Wichita Heights. Going into the final game of the three game set the Panthers found themselves tied with Salina Sacred Heart in 4th place and trailed Lansing by 22 pins for the 3rd place position. Regional Champion Salina Sacred Heart had a rough last game and dropped all the way to the 10th position. Great Bend narrowly edged out Lansing for 3rd place by 5 total pins 2550 to 2545. Top scorers for the Panthers included: senior Jeff Mietler’s 625 series and 20th place medal; junior Kendall Lloyd’s 645 series and 13th place finish; and sophomore Jacob Holden’s 654 series and 10th place finish. Great Bend’s Jeff Mietler helped the Panther Bowling team over the last four season by being a key role player in putting three trophies in the Panther trophy case: 2012- State Runner Up, 2013- State Champion, 2015- 3rd Place. Members of the Panther Bowling team include: seniors Jeff Mietler, Alex Morgan, Matt Black; junior Kendall Lloyd; sophomore Jacob Holden, and freshman Kameron Keener. Sophomores Brodie Owens and Drew Reed were alternates. Both Panther Bowling teams are coached by Mike Perry and Jim Mayberry.
