GIRLS
HESSTON 53, HOISINGTON 14
HESSTON — Defending Class 3A state champion Hesston roared to a 14-0 lead and coasted past Hoisington’s girls 53-14 in a Central Kansas League basketball game.
The No. 1 ranked Swathers (18-0, 9-0 CKL) led 16-2 after one quarter and 32-10 at halftime. Cami Richardson scored 15 points and Kelsey Unruh added 13 points. The Swathers’ stifling defense held the Cardinals in check all night.
Hoisington (6-12, 3-6 CKL) played without leading scorer Rylie Koester, who is sidelined with an injury. Emma Harmon scored nine points.

NICKERSON — Kelsey Parr fired in four 3-pointers to spark Larned’s girls past Nickerson 47-33 in a Central Kansas League basketball game. Parr nailed a trio of 3-pointers for a 17-11 halftime lead.
Larned (3-15, 1-8 CKL) won its first league game. The Indians took charge with an 18-9 edge in the third quarter for a 35-20 lead. Haley Skelton scored nine points and Ally Aldrich added eight points.
Nickerson (0-18, 0-9 CKL) lost its school record 47th consecutive game. Bryanna Herman scored 10 points and Alison Evans and Denis Ortiez each added eight points. The Panthers made a season high 21 of 34 free throws.

HESSTON 70, HOISINGTON 41
HESSTON — Hoisington High’s Steffan Dolechek scored a game high 25 points, but it wasn’t nearly enough in a Central Kansas League basketball game.
Defending Class 3A state champion Hesston broke open a tight first half and rolled past the Cardinals 70-41 Tuesday night. Tyler McCartney led the Swathers with 23 points and Grant Raleigh added 14 points.
The No. 5 ranked Swathers (16-2, 9-0 CKL) also captured the CKL title last year. Hoisington (7-11, 2-7 CKL) was outscored by 19 points in the second half. The Swathers hit the last shot of the second quarter and third quarter.

LARNED 58, NICKERSON 26
NICKERSON — Larned’s boys outscored Nickerson 21-3 in the third quarter to trigger a running clock in a 58-26 Central Kansas League victory over last-place Nickerson.
Larned (12-5, 6-3 CKL) secured an upper division finish behind a typically balanced offense with Evan Skelton and Trevor Meyer scoring 12 points apiece and Derek Delgado adding 10 points. The Indians adjusted defensively after halftime.
“It was a nice defensive effort,” said Larned coach Don Zimmerman. “They did a good job making adjustments. We matched up and didn’t lose anybody. I was proud of them. They just drive the ball to the basket. The kids did a great job drawing the charges. We got separation when we got some stops. Evan Skelton and Isiah Perez played big the second half.”
Jared Petz and Austin O’Toole scored five points apiece for Nickerson (3-14, 1-8 CKL).
