Ellinwoods Nathan Monday dribbles as Otis-Bisons Luke Higgason defends on Tuesday in Hoisington.

OTIS-BISON GIRLS 50, ELLINWOOD 20 — Top-seed Otis-Bison outscored Ellinwood 41-1 in the second and third quarters to roll past the Eagles 50-20 in Tuesday’s Cardinal Jam Tournament.
Maddie Wiltse dominated inside with 27 points and Sheridan Ewy added 12 points for the Cougars (8-2).
“Maddie Wiltse and Cora Anderson made some inside shots and that opened the outside shots,” said Otis-Bison coach Robert Trapp. “Sheridan Ewy has done a good job knocking down outside shots.”
Ellinwood’s girls stunned the Cougars by leading 8-2. Ellinwood (0-10) was paced by Kaitlyn Panning with eight points.

OTIS-BISON BOYS 53, ELLINWOOD 42 — Pesky Ellinwood provided a test for top-seeded Otis-Bison in a hard-fought 47-41 opening victory in the Cardinal Jam Tournament. The Cougars led 20-6 and 41-27 before Ellinwood rallied.
Clade Anderson led the Cougars with 23 points and Maitland Wiltse added 15 points.
Otis-Bison (8-3) advances to Friday’s semifinals. The Eagles (1-8) drew within 41-37 when Nathany Monday and Brandon Carr hit 3-pointers and Monday and David Hammeke followed with baskets for a 41-37 deficit. Anderson scored off a Foust assist for a 46-39 lead.

LACROSSE GIRLS 32, HOISINGTON 27 — LaCrosse’s MaKenzie Braun converted a trio of 3-pointers and scored 21 points in a 32-27 victory over Hoisington in the Cardinal Winter Jam. LaCrosse outscored the Cardinals 12-7 in the decisive second period. Emma Rues hit a 3-pointer for a 28-24 lead.
Hoisington (3-6) was paced by Jocelynn Pedigo with 15 points. The Cardinals made 10 fee throws.

HOISINGTON BOYS 54, RUSSELL 46 — Hoisington’s Drew Nicholson scored 23 points to spark the Cardinals past Russell 54-46 in the Cardinal Winter Jam Tournament. The Cardinals led 35-19 before Russell rallied. The Cardinals converted 13 free throws in the fourth quarter.
Nicholson drilled a trio of first-quarter 3-pointers for 15 first-half points. Kyle Haxton scored 16 points. The Cardinals (3-7) play Otis-Bison in Friday’s semifinals. Russell’s Tyler Whipple scored 26 points.

RUSSELL GIRLS 51, PRATT 26 — Russell’s Tiffany Dortland scored 19 points and Jaclyn Schulte scored 18 as the defending champions rolled past Pratt 51-26 in the Cardinal Winter Jam Tournament. Russell led 9-1 after one quarter and outscored Pratt 21-7 in the second quarter for a 30-8 lead.

PRATT BOYS 51, LACROSSE 47 — Pratt’s Travis Theis scored 18 points to spark the Greenbacks past LaCrosse 51-47 in the Cardinal Winter Jam Tournament, Pratt converted eight 3-pointers to outscore the Leopards 24-6 from long range.
Brett Herrman scored 19 points for LaCrosse, which converted nine of 20 free throws.

The Tigers (8-2) outscored Larned 21-10 in the fourth quarter. Eddy Calleros added 10 points. The Tigers play Macksville in Friday’s semifinals.

Kreed Parr had six assists. Waters had four steals and Kody Mead grabbed 10 rebounds. Macksville (8-2) plays St. John in Friday’s 8:15 p.m. semifinals.
