St. John moves on to state

COLDWATER  — The St. John High School volleyball team advanced to the state tournament after winning the Class 1A sub-state tournament last Saturday.
The state tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.
The Lady Tigers are the No. 2 seed behind Olpe.
St. John received a first-round bye at the sub-state tournament and faced Macksville in the second round. The Lady Tigers won 25-8, 25-13.
St. John beat host South Central of Coldwater, 25-20, 25-15, to advance to state.

LAKIN — The Hoisington Lady Cardinals faced Larned in the first round of the Class 3A sub-state tournament on Saturday.
 Larned was ousted after losing to Hoisington, 25-18, 25-16.
 The Lady Cardinals lost to No. 3 seed Goodland in a three-game match, 26-24, 18-25, 25-21, which ended their season.
