HOLCOMB — Hoisington High School had its football season end at the hands of Holcomb in a first-round game of the Class 3A state playoffs on Tuesday night.
The Longhorns stormed ahead 21-0 by halftime on their way to a 28-7 victory.
“We turned the ball over too many times,” Hoisington head coach Jason Ingram said. “We shot ourselves in the foot with bad snaps.”
Hoisington senior quarterback Hagan Hanzlick scored its only touchdown. The Cardinals finished the season 5-5.
“I am proud of the kids, and how they worked this season,” Ingram said. “They worked their tails off all year. It’s kind of tough, losing the senior leadership like this, but I am very proud of them.”
Fifteen Hoisington seniors played their final game.
“It’s a hard group to lose, but we have a big freshman class coming in,” Ingram said. “It’s tough to lose a group with this kind of energy and intensity.”
