Cardinals put away Minneapolis

HOISINGTON — The Hoisington High School boys’ basketball team put away Minneapolis for good in the third quarter, scoring 20 points in a 48-29 romp on Friday night in a second round game of the Hoisington Winter Jam.
Ryan Becker led the Cardinals, scoring a game-high 16 points, including 10 in the third quarter.
Cody Stetler had a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Ness City 70, Larned 46
ST. JOHN — Larned dug an early hole against Ness City during a consolation bracket game of the St. John Lions Club Mid-Winter Classic on Friday evening.
The Indians fell behind 21-6 in the first quarter, and never recovered.
Easton Palmer led Larned, which grabbed 22 offensive rebounds, with 14 points.
Nolan Allison added 11 for the Indians (2-10).

Victoria 61, Ellinwood 35
HOISINGTON — Ellinwood just couldn’t catch Victoria on Friday evening during a second round game of the Hoisington Cardinal Winter Jam.
The Eagles (4-7) fell behind 25-17 at halftime and couldn’t make up the difference.
Derek Ward was the only Ellinwood player in double figures with 13 points.
The Knights were led by Dalton Dreiling, who scored a game-high 18 points.

Wichita North
sophomores 63,
Stafford 32
CUNNINGHAM — Stafford’s struggles continue against Wichita North’s sophomores in a consolation bracket game of the 54 Boys Classic.
With the loss, the Trojans fall to 1-7 on the season.

GIRLS
Ellinwood 46,
Victoria 44, OT
HOISINGTON — Making 5 of 7 free throws in overtime to pull ahead, Ellinwood beat Victoria in a second round game of the Hoisington Cardinal Winter Jam.
The Lady Eagles held the Lady Knights to a lone 3-pointer from Brooke Schmidt in the overtime period.
Ellinwood’s Rachel Doll matched Victoria’s Ashley Dome for a game-high 18 points apiece.
Sophia Hayes scored 15 points for the Lady Eagles (8-3).

Pratt 78, Macksville 23
MACKSVILLE — Pratt ran away with the game from the outset, leading 26-7 after eight minutes.
Tara Bunker led the Lady Mustangs (2-7) with seven points.
Macksville takes on Norwich in the first round of the Pratt-Skyline 54 Girls’ Classic on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
