HILLSBORO — Central Plains Oiler Luke Hickel (79) qualified for 2A state golf at Hillsboro Golf Course as Salina Sacred Heart continues to break state scoring records.
Hickel birdied the 17th hole to shoot 9-over-par 79 to finish seventh. Pittsburg’s Crestwood Country Club is the site of 2A state golf.
Three-time defending state champion Sacred Heart shot 8-under-par 272 and posted the six lowest scores in the Hillsboro regional. Medalist Kameron Shaw birdied seven holes for a 6-under 64, three strokes better than two-time state champion Tate Herrenbruck (67).
