GREESNBURG—Thirteen girls teams and 15 boys teams were represented at Thursday’s 2A regional track and field meet hosted by Kiowa County High School.

Ellinwood girls polled a third place finish of 79 points while Meade and Kiowa County finished as the top two teams in order with 132 and 87 teams points.

In the boys standings, the Eagles collected 21 points for an 11th place finish. South Gray and Kiowa County finished in the top two with 114 and 78 points respectively.

The top four finishers in each event qualified for state.

The Eagle girls qualified ten competitors for next week’s state meet in Wichita. The girls also won two running events as Abbie Reichuber placed first in the 3200 meter run in a time of 12:18.56. In the 4x800 relay, Madelyn Hayes, Cailey Carmen, Reichuber and Joanna Strecker placed as the top team clocking in at 10:19.50.

Bailey Baird, McKenna Rugan and Carmen placed, in order, fourth fifth and sixth in the 400 meter race. Baird edged out Rugan by only a fraction of a second for fourth place with a time of 1:03.62. Rugan finished in 1:03.65 while Carmen posted a sprint of 1:05.15.

Ellinwood recorded a qualifier in the 800 meter run as Strecker placed third in 2:30.96. Hayes placed fifth in the 800 in 2:37.15. Strecker qualified for state in the 1600 meter in 5:37.90 for a second place finish. Cassidy Schlessiger placed eighth at 6:42.06. Emma Ricker and Anna Fisher placed fourth and sixth in the 100 meter hurdles at 17.11 and 17.37. Ricker and Fisher then took fifth and sixth in the 300 meter hurdles with times of 50.03 and 52.03.

Back in the relays, the quad of Ricker, Rugan, Baird and Fisher had a qualifying time in the 4x100 with a third place finish in 52.56. Baird, Strecker, Rugan and Carmen took third in the 4x400 in a qualifying time of 4:16.31.

In field events, Madelyn Hayes won the javelin with a qualifying launch of 130.11 ft while Cassandra Dimitt qualified with a third place throw of 119.05. Dimitt posted a sixth place toss of 32.08 ft. in the shot put.

In the boys meet, Tate Fisher placed second with a qualifying time of 5.10 ft. in the high jump. Jordan Duvall was a sixth place finisher in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.60. Avery Pike took fifth in the 400 meter in 54.06. In the 800 meter run, Destin Baker recorded a fifth place slot in 2:11.59. Morgan Feemster and Jacob Kasselman placed fifth and seventh in the 3200 meter run with times of 10:39.87 and 11:10.37.

In the relay events, Avery Pike, Destin Baker, Tate Fisher and Jordan Duvall took sixth in the 4x400 in 3:43.25. Baker, Pike, Jacob Kasselman and Feemster qualified for state in the 4x800 with a fourth place finish and time of 8:52.53.

In the field, Duvall was fifth in the long jump at 19.02 ft. Doug Stout finished seventh in the javelin at 128.08 ft.
