Ellinwood jv track girls come up big at home meet, boys finish fifth

ELLINWOOD— Nine teams from around the area were represented at Tuesday’s junior varsity track and field meet in Ellinwood. The Eagle girls wrapped up competition with 130 team points, good for a first place finish while the Ellinwood boys squad finished as the fifth seed in the final standings.

In the girls 800 meter run, Maddie Hayes won gold with a time of 2:38.76. Anna Fisher was a first place finisher in the 100 meter hurdles at 17.18 while Emma Ricker took the crown in the 300 meter hurdles at 52.22. Ricker, Hayes, Bailey Baird and Cailey Carmen took top honors in the 4x400 meter relay timing in at 4:28.22.

In field events, Baird placed first in the high jump with a leap of 4 ft. Cassie Dimmitt grabbed a first place slots in the shot put and discus with launches of 31 and 83 ft. respectively. Dimmitt wrapped up the day with a throw of 110 ft. in the javelin, good for a first place.

2nd place: Emma Ricker (17.20)

300 METER HURDLES-

2nd place: Anna Fisher (53.31)

In boys competition, Avery Pike was first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.79. Drew Blake was a first place finisher in the long jump at 18 ft.
