Five Hoisington Cardinal wrestlers place first

HOISINGTON — Hoisington High’s wrestling team earned five first-place medals at the Hoisington Tournament Friday at the Hoisington Activity Center. The Cardinals finished runner-up 161.5 to champion Goddard Eisenhower 188.

Placing first were Dustin Edmonson 13-6, 132; No. 5 ranked Tanner Cassity 27-3, 138; No. 1 Christopher Ball 32-1, 152; No. 3 Sean Urban 30-1, 170 and No. 1 Wyatt Pedigo 26-3, 182.

Edmonson pinned Beloit’s Hunter Prochaska 2:36 for first place. Cassity pinned Beloit’s Camden Harris 1:58 in the championship match. Two-time state champion Christopher Ball downed Beloit’s Zane Colson 5-0 for first place. Urban won five matches and Pedigo won four matches.

Placing runner-up were Dayne Yott 19-14, 145 and No. 3 Joshua Ball 28-4, 160. Yott lost 11-4 to Eisenhower’s Dayne Holmgren for first place. Eisenhower’s Carson Wheeler downed Joshua Ball 10-1 for first place.
