Hanna Pfeifer and Allie Brodrick

The accolades just continue to roll in for the Lady Panther Bowling team after finishing up their 2016 season as the WAC Champions, Regional Runner’s Up and State Runner’s Up. The top two bowlers for the team each received some recognition as individuals. Senior Hanna Pfeifer was selected to the All Kansas State Bowling 2nd Team. Pfeifer capped off her senior season by being named to the WAC 1st Team, Regional Champion, and member of the Lady Panthers State Runner’s Up team.
Junior captain Allie Brodrick was selected to the All Kansas State Bowling 1st Team. In addition to this award, Brodrick also was a member of the Lady Panthers State Runner’s Up Team, placed 3rd at Regional’s, placed 9th at the State Tournament, was on the All WAC 1st Team, and was named the 2016 WAC Most Outstanding Player of the Year with an average of 199.
Being named to these teams is an amazing accomplishment. Players are nominated by coaches from across the entire state. After being nominated, each player then is voted on by the members of the Kansas Bowling Coaches Association. After the voting process is complete the top six vote getters are placed on the 1st team and the next six highest vote getters earn 2nd place honors. The All State Teams are broken down into three categories: 6A, 5A and 4A through 1A. The Western Athletic Conference was well represented on the All Kansas State Bowling Teams. In Class 6A, Tristan Funk from Garden City was named to the 1st Team and Bubba Larson and Taylor Larsen also from Garden City were named to the 2nd team.  Katyln Tabor from Dodge City was selected as a member of the 2nd team in Class 6A. Garden City’s coach Kip Nichols was also named as the Class 6A Coach of the Year. The Garden City boys also were crowned as State Champions in Class 6A and Tristan Funk was the individual State Champion with a series of 803.
