TONGANOXIE — Heading in, they knew it would be tough, and the Tonganoxie tournament did not disappoint.
The Great Bend High School volleyball team went 0-5 on the day with losses to Ottawa, Gardner Edgerton, Bishop Ward, Eudora and Tonganoxie.
"We knew going to Tonganoxie this year would be the toughest competition we have seen to this point," GBHS head coach Kelsey Perry said. "We struggled in different areas throughout the day, but we improved a lot also.
"Our goal is to get better every match and we felt we did that today but we just couldn't get the wins. That's what we have to overcome. We played our best "unified" volleyball so far and that is huge for us going forward."
Dakota Sanders stood out, making the all-tournament team as a setter. She had 59 assists.
Great Bend hosts a tournament on Saturday at the Panther Fieldhouse.
