SALINA — The Great Bend High School softball team swept its first two games of the season on the road at Salina Sacred Heart on Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers capture the first game 8-2 and won the nightcap 8-5.
In the first game, the Lady Panthers struck first in the top of the second inning, driving in a pair of runs. Sacred Heart tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the third, but Great Bend retook the lead with four runs in the top of the fourth.
Abby Morrison worked the circle for all seven innings of the first game, giving up eight hits while recording five strikeouts and walking no one. Morrison also found success at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three singles.
Nicole Reiter went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and Kaitlee Spray went 2-for-2 with a single, a double.
Jordan Haney got the win in the second game, giving up 11 hits and two walks while striking out three.
The Lady Panthers committed five errors behind Haney, but she was able to produce offensively to help her cause, going 2-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run and a triple.
Lexie Brack also hit an inside-the-park home run in the second game.
McKenna Mauler went 2-for-4 with a couple of singles.
