The Great Bend High School volleyball team went 1-2 in the Great Bend Invitational on Saturday.
“We played well in spurts today,” GBHS head coach Kelsey Perry said. “We feel we should have gotten more wins and that our errors were a big factor today.”
The Lady Panthers immediately dropped out of the championship bracket after losing to Phillipsburg in the first round.
Great Bend took the first game 25-23, but Phillipsburg rallied to take the next two, 25-23 and 25-21.
The tournament is double elimination.
Facing an early exit, Great Bend defeated Wichita West to stay alive.
The Lady Panthers won 25-20, 25-13.
Then came Western Athletic Conference opponent Hays.
“Hays has been young for a few years so we knew they were going to be tough this year and will see them again in the WAC tournament,” Perry said.
Great Bend fell 25-12, 25-18.
Dakota Sanders led the team with 60 assists on the day.
