GBMS ends wrestling season

The Great Bend Panther middle school wrestling squad concluded its season Saturday with a second place finish at the Bob Threlkel Junior Western Athletic Conference tournament held at Hays High school. The Panthers scored 176 points as a team and had 13 of the 16 varsity athletes place in the top four.
“When your on the podium that many times that’s a pretty good day,” said head coach Norbert Muth. “We set a goal to have everyone place in the top four. We ended the season with three undefeated wrestlers for the year -  Carsyn Schooler, George Webber and Gage Frits.”
Varsity 75 - Brantley Baldwin’s place is 2nd and has scored 14.00 team points.
Varsity 90 - Carsyn Schooler’s place is 1st and has scored 20.00 team points.
Varsity 95 - Drew Liles’s place is 2nd and has scored 18.00 team points.
Varsity 100 - Owen Ridgeway’s place is 4th and has scored 10.00 team points.
Varsity 105 - Quin Hoffman’s place is 4th and has scored 8.00 team points.
Varsity 115 - George Weber’s place is 1st and has scored 22.00 team points.
Varsity 120 - Alex Randolph’s place is 4th and has scored 9.00 team points.
Varsity 134 - Bryce Brown’s place is 4th and has scored 10.00 team points.
Varsity 141 - Dalton Miller’s place is 3rd and has scored 15.00 team points.
Varsity 148 - Dylan Lamb’s place is 3rd and has scored 16.00 team points.
Varsity 165 - Ever Chavez’s place is 4th and has scored 6.00 team points.
Varsity 180 - Kevin Miramontes’s place is 2nd and has scored 18.00 team points.
Varsity 265 - Matt Ellison’s place is 4th and has scored 11.00 team points.
 
In the Junior Varsity Tournament the Panthers placed nine athletes respectively.
“This is a special group. I have really enjoyed these kids in football and in wrestling. I look forward to seeing how they do in kids club and over the next few years at the high school level. I highly encourage parents to get their kids involved in kids club wrestling. There is no better teacher than experience so starting early is so important,” said assistant coach Jake Hofflinger. “Great Bend has a terrific wrestling culture. Many families are dedicated to supporting and growing the sport of wrestling. It is a great opportunity for our youth.”
